Brooklyn, New York
From our very first conversation, we knew this project was going to be a delight. Designed for a creative couple - a writer and a film editor, this New York brownstone reflects a life shaped by story, rhythm, and sound. Avid readers and music lovers, they envisioned a home that flows effortlessly between moments of quiet work and lively entertaining.
Enter An Affair With Color! We reimagined the layout to create openness and continuity, allowing light and conversation to move easily through the space. Colors, textures, and furnishings were all intentional choices helping the home share its story. From floor-to-ceiling shelving that holds a vast collection of books to musical instruments thoughtfully placed to invite you to play, every detail finds its rhythm. Elegant yet lived in, layered yet fluid.
“His” office was fully clad in soundproof paneling — a detail that goes beyond acoustics to bring warmth, depth, and architectural cohesion to the space. “Her” office was envisioned as a corner that sparks creativity, a once-forgotten nook transformed through found objects, curated pieces, and a love of plants into an inspiring studio for beautiful stories to take shape.
Every element was chosen with intention: wallpapers that accentuate cherished tchotchkes, each with its own story; a gallery wall that draws the eye upward to celebrate the grand double-height ceiling in the living room; and a bedroom that offers calm contrast - serene, tactile, and anchored by handcrafted details like the sculptural chair and art that invites attention.
The home is a dialogue between story and sound, restraint and creativity.
